JAIMA and China’s Instrument Information Network to Jointly Host “Japan-China Scientists Forum – Life Sciences”– Toward disseminating cutting-edge life sciences information on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 –
TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Japan Analytical Instruments Manufacturers' Association (hereinafter "JAIMA"; location: 2-5-16 Kanda Nishiki-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, 101-0054 Japan; president: Akira Nakamoto; senior corporate advisor: Shimadzu Corporation) announces that, on Wednesday July 20, 2022, it will jointly hold the second online "Japan-China Scientists Forum - Life Sciences" with China's Instrument Information Network.
This year's theme is "life sciences," and JAIMA has invited Professor Emeritus Toshihiro Akaike of the Tokyo Institute of Technology as the keynote speaker. Professor Akaike started his career in polymer chemistry at the University of Tokyo and continued his research into biomaterials connecting polymer chemistry and bio-chemistry through his work at Tokyo Women's Medical University. This year's lectures will cover the latest in biomaterials, from regenerative medicine and drug delivery to vaccines based on cadherin biology and cadherin engineering. Furthermore, Teiko Shibata-Seki, a visiting researcher at Tokyo Metropolitan University and who has contributed to Professor Akaike's research via atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurement, will also give a lecture.
Also, from China, JAIMA is pleased to welcome Professor Yangjun of the College of Life Sciences at Nankai University and who is also a student of Professor Akaike, as well as leading professors from Tsinghua University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
