Social Work of JAIMA
JAIMA (Japan Analytical Instruments Manufacturers' Association) was founded on August 18 (1960) as a group of national organizations. Our mission is to promote development of science and technology through the advancement of analytical instrument technologies and the sophistication of industries, thereby contributing to the growth of the Japanese economy and improvement of Japanese cultural life. Several social actions have continuously been being performed as shown below.
Collaboration with industry-academia-government
Strengthening of domestic and overseas network
Strengthening industry-academia-government network
We consider that it's important to strengthen the cooperation with industry, academia, research institute and government to provide the state-of-the-art instruments and related products adapting to the society. Several projects are conducted to deepen this cooperation.
Providing the latest domestic and overseas information
We promptly provide information on the following types of operation and projects because that the mutual communication is an important issue.
- Provision of National policies, regulations and new technology information
- Promotion of policy recommendations to the government
- Enhancement of international presence by publicizing JAIMA activities abroad
Global partnership and cooperative projects
JAIMA is developing a partnership among ALDA (US), EUROM II (Europe) and JAIMA (Japan) and exploring a new partnership with other countries.
JASIS exhibition organized by JAIMA and JSIA is being held in the beginning of September every year at Makuhari Messe, Chiba Japan. JASIS aims to become "the largest and the most comprehensive Analytical and Scientific Instruments Trade Show and Conference in Asia". We are strongly taking global perspectives in promoting the JASIS as Asia's leading exhibition.
Promoting Standards and business standardization
Promoting and actively contributing standard and business standardization
We are promoting and actively contributing to standards and standardization of analytical instrument technologies through participation in the creation of JIS draft plans and in international standards related to analytical methods and instruments.
Providing information, lectures and seminars
JAIMA provides input for the development of various standards related to environmental regulations, as represented by the EU regulations (RoHS, REACH, WEEE, EuP) and others. In addition, we provide a variety of the latest information and lectures throughout the year.
Providing technical information/ Implementing special lectures
Education and spreading of knowledge for analytical instruments
JAIMA has conducted various courses of lectures in the exhibition and the actual training with analytical instruments for junior and senior high school students.
Assistance of the Tohoku University's basic course of "Instrumental Methods for Material Analysis"
We have continually supported the Tohoku University's basic 15 courses of "Instrumental Methods for Material Analysis" since 2007.
"JAIMA Summer Science School for High and Junior High School Students" for the experience of studying the analytical instruments
"JAIMA Summer Science School " has been held every summer season. This event is for high and junior high school students who would like to be experienced by operating the analytical instruments by themselves. This purpose is eventually to have high school and junior high school students deepen their basic understanding of the analytical instruments that have been supporting the developments in the various industries, and to evoke their interest of science and technology.
This year’s “JAIMA Summer Science School” ended successfully.
Publishing technical reports for analytical instruments and their methods
"JAIMA Analytical Instruments Guide" are annually published with "Product list classifying by the analytical methods", "Regulation's lists with related analytical instruments" and "Overview of JAIMA".
Surveying technology trends
To define midterm issues for actively leading in the analytical industry, JAIMA makes some reports for policy proposals on the mid- and long-term outlook based on surveying various R&D trends (i.e. analysis of the questionnaires, literature survey, interviewing experts, R&D trends in worldwide).
JAIMA awards for advanced analytical instruments and technology
JAIMA's analytical instrument's development awards for advanced analytical technology
JAIMA's analytical instrument's development awards for advanced analytical technology has started with Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry since 2004. Excellence in the development of analytical methods and instruments praises in the JSAC's annual symposium.
Surveying on trends in intellectual property
JAIMA constantly surveys an intellectual property rights of analytical instruments by exchanging information with the governmental patent office and related organizations, providing the information to our members rapidly.
