Masayuki Adachi, President

I am Masayuki Adachi, President of the Japan Analytical Instruments Manufacturers’ Association (JAIMA). I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your continued support and cooperation with JAIMA’s activities.

JAIMA was established in 1960 with the aim of contributing to the advancement of science and technology, the development of the Japanese economy, and the improvement of society through the progress of analytical instrument technologies and the growth of the industry. This year marks the 65th anniversary of our founding.

In today’s rapidly changing global landscape, we remain fully-aware of our role as a foundation that supports all industries. Looking ahead to our 70th anniversary in 2030, while it is difficult to predict what society will look like, we are committed to upholding JAIMA’s core mission and continuing our contribution to society.

Our mission is guided by six key policies: 1. Strengthening collaboration among committees and sharing their outcomes 2. Enhancing cooperation with domestic and international organizations 3. Expanding and improving information exchange 4. Further developing our flagship exhibition, JASIS. 5. Providing comprehensive solutions through collaboration among member companies. 6. Contributing to innovation for future and investing in human resource development.

In recent years, we have focused on building a digital laboratory through initiatives such as LabDX, which promotes laboratory automation to improve efficiency and productivity, and MaiML, a common data format for the integrated management of analytical data in research and development. We are also exploring the potential of generative AI to accelerate these advancements. As a result of these efforts, we are beginning to attract new participants from emerging industries who recognize and support our activities.

To address the need for next-generation human resource development, we are working closely with academia—supporting analytical instrumentation courses, certifying technical training programs for students, and holding ongoing workshops for young employees of JAIMA member companies. Through these activities, we aim to foster an understanding of societal issues while promoting mutual exchange.

JASIS, our largest event, is also evolving. We have established a special committee dedicated to generating new ideas and initiatives to ensure its continued development. We hope you look forward to the future of JASIS.

In closing, we remain committed to advancing both JAIMA and the analytical instruments industry. We sincerely ask for your continued support and cooperation.
